Record 778,000 people vaccinated in single day
While Pakistan reported more than 4,100 cases after a gap of over
two months and PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz became the latest
victim of Covid-19, a record number of people i.e. 778,000 were
vaccinated in a single day. Meanwhile, highest positivity rate was
reported in Karachi i.e. 22.6pc followed by Skardu, 19.88pc, and
Gilgit, 18.42pc.

Nepra okays 21 paisa cut in Discos tariff
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on
Wednesday finalised about 21 paisa per unit reduction in
electricity rates for ex-Wapda distribution companies (Discos) for a
month under the monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA).

Govt sees rapid growth amid external account pressures
The Ministry of Finance on Wednesday anticipated a surge in
economic activities despite the uncertain pandemic situation but
warned that transition to higher growth could build pressure on

ECC rolls over Rs352bn of Covid-related stimulus package
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Wednesday
rolled over Rs352 billion of the Covid-related Economic Stimulus
Package to current fiscal to meet various expenditures, including
procurement of vaccinations, and deferred approval of the five year strategic trade policy framework.

ECC allows import of 600,000 metric tons of sugar
The ECC of the cabinet on Wednesday decided to merge a
summary tabled by the Ministry of Industries and Production for
allowing import of 100,000 metric tons of sugar after knowing that
the federal cabinet had approved the import of 600,000 metric
tons of sugar in order to build up strategic reserves.

Record jump in DAP price nullifies impact of govt’s subsidy on
fertilizer
The price of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer has jumped
to a record high of Rs6,000 per bag, fully nullifying the impact of
Rs1,000 subsidy announced by the government within a few
months, industry officials said on Wednesday.
